A fresh perfume can be zesty, green, aquatic, fruity or softly musky. The useful question is which kind of freshness you enjoy, and what you want to smell after the first citrus impression settles. A bergamot opening over warm woods is a different choice from a clean floral musk or a citrus-aquatic profile.

Citrus, aquatic and aromatic are different clues
Citrus points towards the character of fruits such as bergamot, lemon, mandarin and grapefruit. Aquatic describes a watery or airy impression; it is a scent effect, not a statement that a perfume contains seawater. Aromatic profiles bring a herbal direction alongside other notes. These descriptions can overlap within one fragrance, so read the heart and base as well as the opening.

Aura combines bergamot and ginger with orange blossom, musk, amber and patchouli. Their shared freshness does not make them interchangeable: tea and orange blossom offer different centres to the scent.
Choose the finish as carefully as the opening

Fresh profiles are useful starting points for everyday wear, but the word fresh does not promise subtle projection. How long should a citrus fragrance last?
The bright opening can soften while the rest of the fragrance remains noticeable. That is different from the whole perfume disappearing. A note list or concentration label cannot establish an exact wear time on your skin. Compare the opening and later finish in similar conditions, and keep a brief record of when you still enjoy the scent.
